ActiveJet against the market odds

01-09-2016

IDC, the international market research, analysis and advisory firm, has concluded based on its research that the Polish market of printing supplies is shrinking. In 2015, it recorded a drop both in quantities and in quality. According to the previous year tendency, the decline was more significant in the inkjet cartridges segment than in the toner one. Paradoxically, the biggest players in the sector are experiencing an increase each year.

Also in Poland, the year 2015 has ended with a decline in the quantity and value of the print market. Taking the entire domestic market into account, the drop amounted to 3.8% in quantity and 9.5% in value. Furthermore, without OEM printing supplies taken into account, the decline in alternative supplies alone was even larger (7.6% decline in quantity and 17.6% in value).

"The main reasons of the decline was a reduced number of items purchased and lower prices of non-OEM products" said Przemysław Kowalski, IDC Programme Manager. "Besides, OEM manufacturers have intensified their actions associated with patent protection. One cannot omit the fact that a new technology - the Continuous Ink Supply System technology (CISS) - was introduced to the market."

Despite the decline in the market, some players still experienced an increase. They include ActiveJet and Actis, private brands owned by ACTION S.A., whose increase in 2015 led them to the present market share of 33.2%. Both brands remain the leaders in the inkjet and toner cartridges sector.

"The shrinking printing supplies market is a result of an international trend of moving away from printing. It is a reality that every company in the sector has to face. Some choose to take „shortcuts” by choosing a quicker income and manipulate the price and the quality of their products. ActiveJet is not one of them. We focus not only on the quality, but the recognisability of the brand and employ innovative marketing actions to achieve it. At the same time we keep expanding our product ranges and ensure they are widely available. The key to our success is the fact that the ActiveJet and Actis brands are supported by a renowned distributor of IT products and home appliances and electronics. The company resources and highest standards logistics place us amongst the leaders, leaving the competition far behind" says Rafał Ornowski, ACTION S.A. Management Board's Representative for the ActiveJet brand.
